Celebration rocked Lira City as over 1,000 Runners Storm Gen. MK’s 52nd Birthday “Run for Hope” in Lango at Lira city.

LIRA CITY: Celebrations was in full swing in Lira City as over 1,000 participants hit the streets today, Sunday, April 26, 2026, to mark the 52nd birthday of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The “Run for Hope,” a charity event aimed at supporting vulnerable children in baby homes, was officially flagged off at 6:30 AM at the Lira City Mayor’s Garden. The flagging ceremony was led by the Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Emmy Lawrence Egole, who urged the public to embrace the spirit of charity and national unity.
Kole RDC Jilian Akullu, Dokolo RDC Akech Babra, Aturu Abrahams the Deputy RDC of Kwania, Alebtong DRDC Lutwama , Lira District Deputy RDC Abang Molly Kia, Lira City East Deputy RCC Stephen Odong, the Lira City West Division Deputy RCC, Joan Apio, Sam Samu, ONC coodinator for Lango sub region Prossy Langol were among the runners.
The streets of Lira City have been filled with singing and jubilation as runners, dressed in official kits bearing Muhoozi birthday run logo, completed their routes through the city centre. The event in Lira coincided with the national grand finale taking place at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, where Gen. Muhoozi is serving as the Chief Runner.
