Alebtong,Uganda– June 23, 2026: Alebtong Resident District Commissioner Geoffrey Okiswa has urged health workers to step up immunization efforts to ensure a healthy population for wealth creation.

Okiswa was on Monday officiating at an engagement of health workers on the Expanded Programme on Immunization [EPI], organized by the Ministry of Health.
The meeting followed the Ministry’s recent launch of malaria vaccination, which it described as a “magic bullet” to kick malaria out of Uganda.
Five gaps listed:
Citing the Ministry of Health dashboard, Okiswa said Alebtong is performing fairly well but must improve in five areas: reporting, time management, capacity building, awareness and sensitization, and the fight against other diseases like measles and HIV/AIDS.
Ebola warning
He also urged health workers to beware of the Ebola threat and educate communities on prevention measures.
“A healthy population is key to wealth creation under NRM’s socioeconomic transformation programme. This term, there should be No Sleep in the fight against disease,” Okiswa said.
