AGAGO, UGANDA: Agago West County MP Hon. Ricky Richard Anywar has renewed calls for government to establish a Health Center IV in Agago West, saying the district’s single facility can no longer serve its growing population.
Speaking today, 20th August 2026, Hon. Anywar said Agago District has 26 sub-counties, 117 parishes and 1,167 villages but only one Health Center IV, which he described as inadequate.
“Agago District has a total of 26 sub-counties, 117 parishes and 1,167 villages, but we only have one Health Center IV. This is not enough for our people,” Anywar said.
The MP said residents are forced to travel long distances to access surgical services, maternal health care and emergency treatment, a situation that has led to preventable deaths, especially among pregnant mothers.

He urged government of Uganda/ the Ministry of Health to prioritize upgrading one of the health facilities in Agago West County to Health Center IV status to bring critical services closer to the people.
MP Ricky Anywar said establishing another Health Center IV would decongest the existing one and improve health outcomes in the district.
Leaders in Agago have previously raised concern over poor health service delivery, citing understaffing, drug shortages and long distances to referral facilities.
