DOKOLO, UGANDA: April 16,2026:
Police in Dokolo District are hunting for a group of people who stormed Amwoma Sub-county Police Station and lynched a 25-year-old suspect in a daring evening attack.
The deceased, identified as Solomon Amenyo, was killed on Wednesday at around 6:25 PM after a rowdy mob overpowered officers and dragged him out of the station.
The North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, confirmed the incident, stating that Amenyo had been brought to the station by two officers from Abako Police Station in Alebtong District.
Amenyo was being escorted by PC Dynabo and PC Scovia Akech, along with two complainants, in connection with a cattle theft case reported by 60-year-old Moses Opio.

According to police, as the officers were coordinating the transfer, a mob quickly surrounded the station and began pelting stones at the charge office.
Despite officers firing warning shots to disperse the crowd, the mob remained defiant. They eventually overpowered the personnel on duty, seized the handcuffed suspect, and beat him to death using logs, bricks, and concrete pieces.

“The body was recovered and conveyed to the hospital for postmortem. We have already identified two prime suspects, only known as Alenga and Ocen, who are currently on the run,” SP Okema said.
Detectives recovered several exhibits from the scene, including blood-stained logs and broken wooden benches used in the assault.

The Uganda Police Force has strongly condemned the act, describing it as an affront to the rule of law.
“Mob justice is a crime. We urge the public to allow the law to take its course rather than taking matters into their own hands. All those involved in this attack will be hunted down and prosecuted,”
The incident has left residents of Amwoma in shock, as security agencies intensify operations to arrest the remaining suspects.
