ALEBTONG, UGANDA- April, 26 2026: The Alebtong Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Mathias Lutwama, has lauded the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for his “patriotic leadership” and aggressive fight against corruption in Uganda.
Lutwama made the remarks on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during the Lango sub-regional celebrations for General Muhoozi’s 52nd birthday, held at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City. The event was anchored by a “Run for Hope” marathon organized by the Minister of Health , also serving as Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Coordinator for Lango, (Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero), which drew several participants from across Lango Sub- region.
In an exclusive interview, with our reporter Commissioner Lutwama praised the CDF for his firm stance against graft, describing corruption as a “major hindrance” to national service delivery and development. He urged the General to prioritize decisive action against corrupt officials within public service, particularly those in departments often perceived as “untouchable”.

“Rooting out corruption is essential for restoring public trust and improving governance outcomes,” Lutwama noted, adding that the military chief’s leadership provides the necessary discipline to tackle financial indiscipline.
The marathon was part of nationwide activities under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope,” aimed at raising funds for vulnerable children in baby homes across Uganda.
Deputy RDC Lutwama commended Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng and the Lira City Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Emmy Lawrence Egole, for their massive mobilization efforts that saw a “mammoth crowd” fill the Mayor’s Garden.
The Lira City celebrations coincided with the national grand finale at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, where Gen. Muhoozi led over 50,000 runners as the Chief Runner.
