AGAGO, Uganda — Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Agago District, Oweka John Bostify, has extended seasonal greetings to residents, wishing for a “crime-free Christmas” and a “progressive New Year 2026” while emphasizing community solidarity and adherence to moral values.
In a public message, Bostify thanked residents of Agago district for their “daily commitments and struggles” in fostering peace and development. “It is my pleasure to wish you a beloved day of 25th December 2025 and a magnanimous occasion of 1st January 2026,” he stated, urging citizens to honor the holidays with kindness, love, hope, faith and to reduce on crime.

Bostify made a Political endorsements and electoral call to action as he urged for emphasis on protecting the gain.
A significant portion of the address focused on the 2026 general elections. Bostify called on the electorate to support President Yoweri Museveni, Hon. Akori Beatrice for Agago Woman Member of Parliament, and all National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearers. “As we protect the gains we have made, let us unite behind the NRM to continue safeguarding our progress,” he asserted.
Moral and Religious Exhortations
The commissioner also delivered a stern warning against activities he described as “actions of the devil,” including drunkenness, sexual immorality, gluttony, rape, jealousy, and theft. Citing religious principles, he remarked, “Jesus Christ was born to die, resurrect, and save mankind from sin but not to make man sin the more.” Bostify encouraged citizens to celebrate the birth of Christ with “honor and love” rather than indulging in sinful behaviors.
Balancing celebration and eeflection, he acknowledged the duality of the season—“both an irony for illusion of hope and at the same time an honor and love for Christ”—urging the community to prioritize spiritual reflection over materialism. “Let us take one side to celebrate Christ with honor and love—not with the sinful nature of the world,” he added.
The statement concluded with Bostify’s pledge to serve “for unity and peace,” reinforcing his commitment to the district’s welfare.
Community Response
While some residents praised the commissioner’s emphasis on security and morals, others expressed mixed reactions to the overt political messaging. Local leaders, however, welcomed the call for unity ahead of the 2026 elections, noting the importance of collective action in preserving hard-won development achievements.
As the festive season approaches, Agago District remains under watch for a peaceful and crime-free celebration, with Bostify’s message echoing the broader national discourse on morality, progress, and political engagement espicially about Karimojong cattle rustling now reduced compared to recent days.
